Languages From and into Dutch, English and Russian, and from Serbian and Croatian. Consecutive or ‘ordinary’ interpretation means that the interpreter translates afterwards whatever is being said. Although such translation can go very fast, it is not simultaneous as with simultaneous interpreting. I have a great deal of experience working as a consecutive interpreter for Dutch, Russian and English in court, hospitals, aid organizations or social work, as well as business and industry. I also work as a simultaneous interpreter for Dutch and English. A simultaneous interpreter is also known as a ‘conference interpreter’, because this work generally involves interpreting at conferences, in an interpreters’ booth together with another interpreter. The words of the speaker are translated simultaneously from or into the languages in question, in my case Dutch and English.
